Children's Liturgy of the Word (CLOW)
Children in grades preK-5 are invited to participate in this celebration offered during the 9:00 am Mass on Sundays (beginning the Sunday after Labor Day continuing until the middle of June).
After the opening prayer, at the presider’s invitation, children who will be participating in this celebration come forward and go forth with the Liturgical Leader and other adults to the room set aside for this celebration (at the back of Driscoll Hall). No pre-registration is needed and parents who wish to accompany their children are welcome to do so.
During this celebration, the Liturgical Leader proclaims the readings from the Children’s Lectionary, cantors from the children’s choir lead the responsorial psalm, and the Leader facilitates a shared reflection at a developmentally appropriate level. The children then recite a simplified Creed and after the prayers of the faithful return to the assembly through the Bellarmine Room (crying room).
Liturgical Leaders are trained by the Faith Formation Director and use as their resource material published for this purpose.
