FROM FATHER RICK
RITE OF RECEPTION
INTO FULL COMMUNION
This Sunday at the 9:00
Mass we will celebrate the Rite of Reception into
the Full Communion of the Catholic Church with Eric
Benson, as he professes his faith, is confirmed,
celebrates the Eucharist with us, and receives Holy
Communion for the first time.
GENERATIONS OF FAITH
Next weekend we will
hold our third Faith Festival. The focus for the
sessions will be the social teachings of the church.
The Catholic Church has a long and notable history
in the area of teaching about social justice as a
way to build the reign of God. Sharing the wisdom of
these teachings and how they apply to parish life
with adults will be guest facilitator Rachel Keeler,
M.Div. Ms. Keeler has worked with Pax Christi in New
York, taught workshops on Christian Nonviolence
Conflict Resolution, and currently teaches a
Morality and Social Justice course for business
managers in the Archdiocese. Ms. Keeler brings a
wealth of knowledge and practical experience and
suggestions in this area and we hope many of you
will take advantage of this opportunity and
participate in one of the sessions. There are
openings for all ages at the following sessions:
Friday evening 5:30 –
8:30
Sunday afternoon
12:30-3:30 (no adult breakout during this session)
Monday evening 5:00 to
8:00
Please remember each
session begins with supper as part of the entire
experience. This month we will be serving baked ziti
& meatballs, salad, rolls, and cookies. To register,
please contact Amanda Roberts in the Parish Office
at 978-683-8922
amroberts@comcast.net.
PARISH OFFICE
The Parish Office will
be closed on Monday, November 12, for Veteran’s Day.
Have a great week,
If you want peace – work
for justice (Pope Paul VI),
Fr. Rick

Imagine being part of an
organization that fills your heart and your mind
with the joy of giving to others and the feeling
that comes with making a difference. Knights are
Catholic men, 18 years of age and older, who are
committed to making their community a better place,
while supporting their Church. Being a Knight is
more than camaraderie; it is being involved with
your community; it is supporting your local Catholic
Church, while enhancing your own faith and setting a
good faith example; it is about protecting and
enhancing your family life. You can volunteer as
much as you like or as little and on your own
schedule. If you want to find out more, contact Jim
McKain at 978-475-7931 or visit the website at
www.kofc.org.

Stewardship
Reflection
“It was from Heaven
that I received these;
for the sake of his
laws I disdain them; from him I hope to receive them
again.”
2 Maccabees 7:11
We are reminded in
Maccabees that everything we have is a gift from
God. We are to return those gifts to God so that
ultimately we may have the greatest of gifts in our
eternal reward.
Special Collection
Next Weekend–Catholic Campaign for Human Development
Imagine life below the
poverty line, where one in eight Americans struggles
every day to hang on. The Catholic Campaign for
Human Development helps people to create permanent
solutions to the problem of poverty in their
communities. Be part of the numbers that care; give
generously to the CCHD Appeal next weekend, November
17 & 18. To learn more, visit

Annual Thanksgiving
Collection
As we have done for the
past several years, we will be taking up a
collection to provide Thanksgiving meals for needy
families in Lowell. We are hoping that you can make
a cash donation for this worthy cause. Donations
will be used to purchase gift cards for food, which
will be distributed to the families by Catholic
Charities of Lowell. Outreach Group members will be
stationed at the back of the Church after all
Masses next weekend, November 17 & 18, to
collect donations. Your generosity is greatly
appreciated.
Bread and Roses
On Sunday, November
18th, we will prepare the meal for the Bread and
Roses hospitality house in Lawrence to be served on
Monday, November 19th.
We plan to prepare BEEF
TACOS with a tossed salad and dessert. Food items
needed are: cooked ground beef, soft tacos (large
size please), packages of shredded cheese, packages
of taco seasoning, jars of salsa, lettuce, tomato,
cucumbers, large cans of fruit salad, cookies or
brownies. Please use the sign up sheet on the
clipboard in the church lobby.
Kitchen helpers meet on
Sunday at 10:00 AM. All food donations should
be received by 10:50 AM. Call Betty Bufano at
978-851-5682 or Lisa Lattari at 978-749-3736 for
further information.
Continuing Support
for Neighbors in Need
You can support
Neighbors in Need anytime during the year by
dropping your non-perishable food donation into the
bin in the vestibule of the church.
With Thanksgiving
approaching, non-perishable items like stuffing mix,
gravy, cranberry sauce, pie filling, cake mix,
coffee, nuts, candy, raisins, candles, and napkins
are especially welcome for the dinner boxes they
prepare for individual families. Last year they
provided Thanksgiving dinners to about 650 families
in Greater Lawrence and the need this year is
expected to be as great.
They also welcome anyone
who can volunteer a few hours on Tuesday morning,
November 20th, to help give out the dinners. For
more information, please call Fran at Neighbors In
Need at 978-685-8321, anytime Monday through Friday
between 8:30 am and 12 noon.

Question of the
Week–Thirty-Second Ordinary Sunday
Question for Adults:
Having faith in difficult times is hard! What makes
you believe in the promise that God will be your
strength, as Paul says?
Question for Youth:
Growing up is full of challenges and choices, but
St. Paul today offers you hope that God is with you
in all of it! "May the Lord rule your hearts," Paul
says. How do you experience this powerful divine
assistance as you face the choices in your own life?
Question for
Children: God always stays with you, no matter
what. What signs can you see to help you believe
that?
The Youth Choir is
open to new members.
Please join us as we
sing and celebrate at 9:00 AM Mass every Sunday.

SCRIPTURE READINGS
FOR NEXT WEEK–THIRTY-THIRD SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
A reading from the
Book of the Prophet Malachi 3:19-20a
Lo, the day is coming,
blazing like an oven, when all the proud and all
evildoers will be stubble, and the day that is
coming will set them on fire, leaving them neither
root nor branch, says the LORD of hosts. But for you
who fear my name, there will arise the sun of
justice with its healing rays.
A reading from the
second Letter of Saint Paul to the Thessalonians
3:7-12
Brothers and sisters:
You know how one must imitate us. For we did not act
in a disorderly way among you, nor did we eat food
received free from anyone. On the contrary, in toil
and drudgery, night and day we worked, so as not to
burden any of you. Not that we do not have the
right. Rather, we wanted to present ourselves as a
model for you, so that you might imitate us. In
fact, when we were with you, we instructed you that
if anyone was unwilling to work, neither should that
one eat. We hear that some are conducting themselves
among you in a disorderly way, by not keeping busy
but minding the business of others. Such people we
instruct and urge in the Lord Jesus Christ to work
quietly and to eat their own food.
+A reading from the
holy Gospel according to Luke 21:5-19
While some people were
speaking about how the temple was adorned with
costly stones and votive offerings, Jesus said, “All
that you see here-the days will come when there will
not be left a stone upon another stone that will not
be thrown down.”
Then they asked him,
“Teacher, when will this happen? And what sign will
there be when all these things are about to happen?”
He answered, “See that you not be deceived, for many
will come in my name, saying, ‘I am he,’ and ‘The
time has come.’ Do not follow them! When you hear of
wars and insurrections, do not be terrified; for
such things must happen first, but it will not
immediately be the end.” Then he said to them,
“Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom
against kingdom. There will be powerful earthquakes,
famines, and plagues from place to place; and
awesome sights and mighty signs will come from the
sky.
“Before all this
happens, however, they will seize and persecute you,
they will hand you over to the synagogues and to
prisons, and they will have you led before kings and
governors because of my name. It will lead to your
giving testimony. Remember, you are not to prepare
your defense beforehand, for I myself shall give you
a wisdom in speaking that all your adversaries will
be powerless to resist or refute. You will even be
handed over by parents, brothers, relatives, and
friends, and they will put some of you to death. You
will be hated by all because of my name, but not a
hair on your head will be destroyed. By your
perseverance you will secure your lives.”
