FROM FATHER RICK
Dear Friends,
Today we culminate our Easter celebration
with the Solemnity of Pentecost. If you are visiting us today for our One
Community – One Eucharist we welcome you and hope that you find our
celebration Spirit filled.
CATHOLIC APPEAL
If you have not yet participated in the
Catholic Appeal I would ask you to seriously and prayerfully consider doing
so this week. There are pledge envelopes in the Gathering Space. You can
either mail it directly to the appeal office or drop it off at the Parish
Office. Thank you for your generosity.
WEEKDAY MASS THIS WEEK
Mass on Tuesday Thursday and Friday at
12:10.
The Parish office will be closed on Monday -
May 28 - for the Memorial Day Holiday.
QUESTION OF THE WEEK
Please don’t forget to spend some time
discussing and praying about the “Question of the Week”. This question is a
way we as a community can together engage the Sunday Scripture Readings.
UPCOMING EVENTS
BODY & BLOOD OF CHRIST
We will be conducting a food drive at all of
our Eucharistic Celebrations on the Solemnity of the Body and Blood of
Christ – June 9 – 10. Please bring a non perishable food item for Neighbors
In Need to be collected during the Presentation of the Gifts at all Masses
on that weekend.
We continue to pray for Christ’s first
resurrection gift of Peace,
Fr. Rick

Imagine being part of an organization that
fills your heart and your mind with the joy of giving to others and the
feeling that comes with making a difference. Knights are Catholic men, 18
years of age and older, who are committed to making their community a better
place, while supporting their Church. Being a Knight is more than
camaraderie; it is being involved with your community; it is supporting your
local Catholic Church, while enhancing your own faith and setting a good
faith example; it is about protecting and enhancing your family life. You
can volunteer as much as you like or as little and on your own schedule. If
you want to find out more, contact John Perigaut (978-975-8015) or Mike
Carman (617-240-0005) or visit the website at <www.kofc.org>.

Special Collection This
Week–Seminaries Collection
The Seminary Collection has always provided
a good occasion to encourage vocations for the priesthood and for religious
life. More immediately, this collection is essential to help meet the
annual operating budget of our seminaries. The seminaries depend upon the
continued generosity of all of our parishioners to carry on the important
work of priestly formation. This work is very important in the life of the
church, as the church continues to prepare men for the priesthood to serve
the sacramental and teaching needs of all our people. Please be as generous
as you are able to this essential Archdiocesan work.
Stewardship Reflection
“The Advocate, the Holy Spirit whom the
Father will send in my name, will teach you everything and remind you of all
that I told you.” (John 14:26)
The materialism of our society lures us to concentrate more on what we want
than on what God wants for us and from us. It is good to know that when we
are confused by our stewardship responsibilities we can call on the Holy
Spirit to show us the way.
NFP – The Church’s Best
Kept Secret!
Did you know that there is a
scientifically-based, totally safe, healthy, easy-to-use and inexpensive way
to control your fertility? And it is over 99% effective when used to avoid
a pregnancy! Natural Family Planning (NFP) is often called the Church’s
“best kept secret”. If you would like to learn more about it, there will be
a 2-hour introductory class on the Billings Method on Wednesday, May 30th at
7:00 p.m. in the rectory of St. William’s Parish in Tewksbury. NFP is also
effective for those who are breastfeeding or pre-menopausal. And couples
with infertility can be greatly helped in their efforts toward achieving a
pregnancy using only morally licit means. For more information or to
reserve a seat, please contact Eileen Wood at woodfire@compuserve.com or
978-640-4916.

Question of the
Week–Solemnity of Pentecost
Question for Adults: To have true
life and God’s peace we need to forgive and receive forgiveness from
another. In order for you to have peace, what one area in your life do you
need forgiveness from yourself or another?
Question for Youth: St. Paul tells us that we all have unique gifts
for the good of others. What is special about you? How can you use those
gifts to help others – friends, family, strangers?
Question for Children: Jesus tells us that we need to forgive to have
peace. Name one way that you can forgive a friend or classmate.
Solemn First Communion
On Sunday June 10, the feast of Corpus
Christi, we will be celebrating Solemn First Communion during the 9:00 AM
Mass with all the children who have received their first holy Communion
during the Easter season with hospitality to follow in Driscoll Hall.
Baby Bottles to Honor
Motherhood!
There are still a few baby bottles from The Pregnancy Care Center of The
Merrimack Valley & Southern New
Hampshire (PCC). Please take one per
family.
We are asking that you take the bottles home. As a family, fill them
with checks (made payable to PCC),
cash or coins, and return them to the church no later than Sunday, June
10th. As you will see from the insert inside the bottle, you may list the
name and address of a special mother you wish to honor. The PCC will send a card to her showing that you have made a gift for life in
her honor.
The Baby Bottle Campaign is used to fund
Pregnancy
Care Center programs that
provide sexual integrity education, help women in crisis pregnancies with
positive alternatives to abortion and offer post abortion recovery. For
Mothers Day this is your opportunity to partner with your local ‘home town
mission’ as they honor motherhood and celebrate God’s gift of LIFE.

Emmaus’ Cycle for Shelter
Scheduled for Sunday, July 22, 2007
Founded in 1985, Emmaus is a non-profit organization “Where Everybody
Matters”. Emmaus is devoted to helping families and individuals rebuild
their lives. It is the largest provider of emergency shelter in Essex County
and offers transitional and permanent affordable housing, job training,
meals, and support services to over 1,700 people in need each year. This
summer there is a great opportunity to help the mission of Emmaus - and have
a great day out as well!
Emmaus’ “Cycle for Shelter” will be held on
Sunday, July 22, 2007 at Northern
Essex Community College in
Haverhill. Cycle for Shelter has been listed in “Bicycling”, the premiere
cycling magazine, as one of its readers’ favorite rides. Riders have the
choice of cycling 27-, 62- or 100-miles along fully supported and arrowed
quiet, scenic routes.
Information and registration at:
www.emmausinc.org or call 978-241-3437. Getting a group of friends
together to ride will be even more fun! If you are not a cyclist,
volunteers are needed to help at the event and on the route. Those
interested in volunteering can call 978/241-3423 for details. Donations are
also welcome to support the event and checks marked “Cycle for Shelter” may
be sent to: Emmaus Inc. P.O. Box 568,

SCRIPTURE READINGS FOR
TRINITY SUNDAY
A reading from the Book
of Proverbs 8:22-31
Thus says the wisdom of God: "The LORD
possessed me, the beginning of his ways, the forerunner of his prodigies of
long ago; from of old I was poured forth, at the first, before the earth.
When there were no depths I was brought forth, when there were no fountains
or springs of water; before the mountains were settled into place, before
the hills, I was brought forth; while as yet the earth and fields were not
made, nor the first clods of the world. "When the Lord established the
heavens I was there, when he marked out the vault over the face of the deep;
when he made firm the skies above, when he fixed fast the foundations of the
earth; when he set for the sea its limit, so that the waters should not
transgress his command; then was I beside him as his craftsman, and I was
his delight day by day, playing before him all the while, playing on the
surface of his earth; and I found delight in the human race."
A reading from the Letter
of Saint Paul to the Romans 5:1-5
Brothers and sisters: Therefore, since we
have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus
Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith to this grace in which
we stand, and we boast in hope of the glory of God. Not only that, but we
even boast of our afflictions, knowing that affliction produces endurance,
and endurance, proven character, and proven character, hope, and hope does
not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out into our hearts
through the Holy Spirit that has been given to us.
+ A reading from the holy
Gospel according to John 16:12-15
Jesus said to his disciples: "I have much
more to tell you, but you cannot bear it now. But when he comes, the Spirit
of truth, he will guide you to all truth. He will not speak on his own, but
he will speak what he hears,
and will declare to you the things that are
coming. He will glorify me, because he will take from what is mine and
declare it to you. Everything that the Father has is mine; for this reason I
told you that he will take from what is mine and declare it to you."
