PHILOSOPHY |
All
of the programs offered are designed to provide vigorous activities
balanced by quiet circle time, classroom setting activities, opportunities
for group participation and individual creativity to promote growth.
The child learns many skills and educationally stimulating ideas from the
world around him.
One of our most important objectives is to
awaken and expand on each and every child's sense of discovery; to fulfill
joys of understanding all that is around them; to take them as far and as
comfortably as they can soar....AND to have a happy, fun, safe time while
doing so. |
|
CURRICULUM |
The curriculum consists of units and themes
designed to emphasize cognitive, perceptual, motor and social skills
promoting healthy personality development and guiding the child to greater
social independence, social competence and self-fulfillment.
Special events, field trips, visits by
guest speakers and community resource persons augment the basic
program. Music, creative movement, arts, crafts, cooking and
science/nature study are part of all classes' developmentally appropriate
programs. |
|
PARENT
PARTICIPATION |
The
"Andover Country Day School" is an independent
"semi-co-op" school. Parents have the opportunity for
active participation by serving on the Parents Board, as Room Parent, committee
chairs, committee members, teacher helpers and providing snack for
special days and school parties. Parents can feel a great deal of
satisfaction in exerting their efforts for their child's first school
experience. |
